Directors Disqualification Recent Statistics

We are often asked questions with regard to director disqualification claims in general.

The information below is taken from a recent article in one of the national newspapers relating to an interview with Steven Law, president of R3, the Insolvency Practitioners Association.

The pertinent details are as follows:-

  1. The number of directors disqualified last year was 1,387. This compares with a figure of 1,594 in 2002.
  2. The number of directors reported for alleged misconduct by Insolvency Practitioners last year was 7,030. In 2002 it was 3,539.
  3. As a percentage, the number of directors reported by Insolvency Practitioners who were then banned after an investigation has fallen from 45% to 20% in the past 8 years.
  4. The budget of the Insolvency Service for pursuing directors has fallen from £9,305 per case in 2002 to £4,097 during last year.
  5. The average length of disqualification is currently 6 years.
