Thee are two main sets of costs when preparing and issuing a bankruptcy petition. Lawyers fees and "disbursements" - such as the court fee and process server fee. We can talk you through these and our highly competitive rates.
Our pricing
We are happy to assist you with preparing a bankruptcy petition and have highly competitive fixed fee costs for doing this. Do contact our team today and we can provide these to you. It is always advisable to instruct solicitors to assist you with the issuing of a bankruptcy petition to avoid any inadvertent errors which could lead to unnecessary time and money being wasted.
Disbursements
In addition to our costs, there are some other unavoidable costs you will have to pay in order to get a bankruptcy petition issued and served. These are commonly known as disbursements and include:
- £280.00 court issue fee;
- £990.00 official receiver’s fee;
- £150 process server fee.
Once issued, the bankruptcy petition needs to be personally served on the individual debtor. It is always good practice to employ the services of a process server who will formally serve the bankruptcy petition on the debtor. He/she will also provide a witness statement for you to present to the court to confirm that the bankruptcy petition has been properly served. We have excellent contacts with process servers throughout the country.
It may be possible to recover some or all of the above costs from the debtor in the event that they are made bankrupt or agree to a settlement before a bankruptcy order is made.
