Why the client needed our help

Our client, a first-time buyer, wanted to bring a professional negligence claim against her solicitors in connection with a conveyancing transaction where monies had been intercepted by a third party.

How we helped

We pursued a claim under the pre-action protocol for professional negligence claims sending a detailed letter of claim to the solicitors.

Following further exchanges of correspondence with the solicitors acting on behalf of the defendent’s professional indemnity insurers, we were able to successfully negotiate a settlement without the need to commence formal court proceedings.

The outcome

Although the client was not able to recover all of the monies she had lost as a result of the interception of funds, she did recover a significant sum and avoided the time, stress and expense of formal court proceedings which may have lasted for a couple of years.
