Why the client needed our help

Our client, a hotelier with a large chain of hotels, was facing a worldwide freezing injunction and claims by shareholders over his personal assets and transactions relating to the company.

How we helped

We immediately assisted with damage limitation in respect of the freezing injunction and negotiated an alternative to the freezing order being made by the court and a general stay of these matters pending the separate ongoing litigated dispute in which our client was involved – he, together with 13 companies, was a defendant to claims brought by individuals and corporate entities based in Eastern Europe and Russia.

The outcome

The freezing order was avoided and matters progressed to proceedings where breathing space was provided to enable the dispute to be more easily resolved.

As a result, the dispute could be managed as a conventional litigation dispute, with time to consider and mediate disputed issues, and the impact on the business was reduced.

I have found FWJ to be perceptive, to the point and realistic. They have been able to assimilate and forcefully defend a very aggressive claim with very limited historic information.
