Why the client need our help

Our client was an IT contractor who had been using Employee Benefit Trusts (“EBTs”) over a protracted period of time. HMRC had recently issued him with Accelerated Payment Notices (APNs) for in excess of £200K requesting payments on account of his tax liabilities.

How we helped

After analysing the EBT income, we set about negotiating a settlement figure with HMRC which was lower than the value of the APNs.

The outcome

We succeeded in agreeing the settlement for our client and secured a time to pay agreement over a number of years, which meant that he did not need to sell his home in order to make the payments or deal with bankruptcy proceedings.

FWJ did precisely what it set out to do. I am extremely grateful for its assistance.

A client who had received a Request for Security from HMRC for a sum that would have caused their company severe financial difficulties. We helped them to have the entire bill withdrawn
