Why the client needed our help
A private client had been issued with a statutory demand for just under £136k for a debt relating to a business. If he didn’t pay this sum, a bankruptcy petition could be issued against him.
How we helped
After heavily scrutinising the statutory demand, we concluded that it was invalid in both form and substance and wrote to the issuer explaining why.
The outcome
The demand was subsequently withdrawn and the issuer confirmed this in writing. Our client was delighted as this meant he did not have to pay anything now and no longer had the threat of bankruptcy hanging over him.
