I am a litigator at heart, specialising in contentious insolvency. My clients comprise of insolvency practitioners, directors, shareholders and creditors. My expertise includes:

  • Advising insolvency practitioners on their investigations in relation to antecedent transactions and breach of duty claims against directors and third parties pursuant to the Insolvency Act 1986.
  • Defending directors who are being investigated by insolvency practitioners.
  • Advising director clients on potential disqualification proceedings under Company Directors Disqualification Act 1986.

Advising qualifying floating charge holders on the enforceability of the debenture they are seeking to rely on when appointing administrators pursuant to Companies Act 2006 and Insolvency Act 1986.

Personality goes a long way in any industry; the legal profession is no different. I take time to understand my clients’ objectives with a view to delivering results to the clients’ satisfaction. I also have a tendency to play devil’s advocate which is necessary in protecting my clients’ interests. My pedantic nature ensures I strive to spot an apparently insignificant detail which may turn significant if left unattended.

My experience, to date, has included:

  • Acting for Joint Liquidators in respect of bringing a claim against a director under section 214 of the Insolvency Act 1986. I assisted with the Joint Liquidators successfully obtaining permission to appeal the dismissal of their Summary Judgment Application.
  • Successfully obtaining a rescission order for a shareholder client pursuant to rule 12.59 of The Insolvency (England and Wales) Rules 2016.
  • Successfully obtaining orders extending the Administrators’ term of office prior to the expiry of the Administration under paragraph 76 Schedule B1 of the Insolvency Act 1986.
  • Acting for insolvency practitioners in respect of pre-pack transactions (in respect of both administration and liquidation).

I have also been involved in liaising with litigation funders and brokers in respect of funded cases.

  • Member of the Westminster & Holborn Law Society, sitting on the editorial team
  • Member of R3, New Professional Network
  • I enjoy writing legal articles and have had the opportunity of having my articles published by reputable sources such as Lexis Nexis, Financial Times and Lexology.

Music is my passion. I am a keen singer (having been trained in Indian classical music) and enjoy performing in front of an encouraging public!
